Beech Road, Lenzie

Careful reconfiguration and extension of a beautiful Victorian villa in Lenzie.

This project involved the reconciliation of a sandstone villa that had previously been split horizontally into two flats. The alterations to the existing building included some substantial slappings, a new staircase, dormer alterations and floor trimmings. The extension was formed using a combination of steelwork and timber. The significant vaulted roof within the extension comprises a lightweight steel ring beam at the high and low levels, with suspended timber spanning between them, sheathed with plywood to form rigid plates and stabilise the structure.

We worked with Loader Monteith Architects on this one.
