STRUCTURAL ENGINEER (VARIOUS LEVELS) (min. +3 years experience, advert LIVE U.N.O.)

We are on the look out for a structural engineer to join us in our Glasgow studio.

You should have a minimum of 3 years' experience working in a design office and familiarity of Revit and AutoCAD would be beneficial although not necessary as training can be provided. We work in a 3D drawing environment for structures where our projects are detailed in Revit. Experience of civils (drainage design primarily) would also be beneficial and we use AutoCAD for drawing up civils projects, although again, training can be provided in this regard.

You will be responsible for preparing both design and drawing information, seeing projects through from inception to completion. A typical day might see you designing or drawing up your own scheme, assisting technicians by providing design information for their schemes, site visits, project cost control, etc.

Ideal competencies include:

  • BEng/ BSc / MEng/ MSc degree or equivalent

  • Revit/ AutoCAD familiarity although full training will be provided

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Experience in using structural design software - our suite includes SCIA Engineer, Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds & Masterseries. We also use Causeway Flow for drainage design

  • Good communication skills; experience in working closely with in-house Technicians as well as external parties; e.g. Client, Project Managers, Architects, M&E Engineers etc.

  • Understanding of construction practicalities/ buildability and details standards

  • Contributes positively to team and embraces responsibility and knowledge progression

  • Experience of running projects

  • Recently Incorporated/ nearly Incorporated/ desire to achieve Incorporated membership of ICE or IStructE

  • Recently Chartered/ nearly Chartered/ desire to achieve Chartered membership of ICE or IStructE

SALARY

We are offering a salary between £33k-£50k depending on your skills and experience along with other benefits,

WORKING DAY

This is an office-based role. Our working day is 09:00-17:00. We offer flexible start/finish times, with core hours between 10:00-16:00. Our office has been recently fitted out and is located just beside Queen Street train station at 34 West George Street.

SOCIAL & HEALTH

We offer a social office environment and in the past have organised regular office drinks and other social events. We also promote healthy living including playing badminton on a Thursday nearby at Strathclyde University. Your starting holiday allowance will be a minimum of 33 days (inclusive of your birthday) depending on how Christmas falls over the holiday period.
